A handsome man welcomed them; his smile was something blinding and just like what Aiba had described – he had a nice figure – too nice for an ordinary doctor. His hair was long, he used hairpin to hold his fringes above his head, and the rest of his black hair fell naturally on his shoulder. He dressed nicely; a bright navy blue shirt with its collar opened too wide, showing his flawless skin and loose jeans which Ohno guessed were sewn by Aiba. Aiba hadn’t explained about how the people here dressed, but seeing the receptions ladies and a few nurses on their way here told him that they didn’t need any uniforms like the usual hospitals.

“My beloved wife, Jun,” Aiba introduced the gorgeous man and gestured them to enter the house. “Jun, this is O-chan, the best baker I’ve told you about,” he pointed at Ohno, “and this is Sho kun, he will stay here with you.”

“I’m so happy that I can finally meet you in person,” he said as he smiled widely at Ohno, shaking his hand enthusiastically, “and you too, Sho kun, I hope you like this place,” he also shook Sho’s hand. Sho glanced at Ohno firmly and gave Jun a weak smile. Aiba shortly guided them to Sho’s room which was also Jun’s room since the doctor and patient slept at the same room – that was the system.

“I have prepared dinner for all of us,” Jun gestured them to follow him towards the dining room after Ohno and Sho had taken care of Sho’s stuff. They followed Jun’s steps, and Ohno had just realized for the first time that Jun’s belly was bulging – he was pregnant.
The furniture was no difference with what people usually have in their houses; except for the emergency room at one corner, in case they needed to be taken care of by infusion. The dining room was large and they could feel a pleasant atmosphere hanged there. Jun’s cooking looked delicious: soup, tempura, and a plate of pasta decorated the dining table.

“Please take a seat,” Jun gestured them to take their seats meanwhile helping them to pour the drinking water and hand them the chopsticks. “Maybe you find it is weird – the whole system in this hospital,” Jun began the conversation as he filled their bowl with rice.

“One doctor in each house,” he explained, “we get this facility to occupy the patients and help them gaining wellness. We don’t do anything specials though,” he handed the bowl to Ohno and continued talking, “we do farming to kill the time, washing our clothes, cooking, playing music and all of the normal activities you can think of, but like what you see, the environment is so special, it brings a healing atmosphere for the patients,” he glanced shortly at Sho. “I never consider myself as a doctor and maybe I am also one of the patients in this place,” he chuckled lightly.

“Doctor and patient are undefined here,” Aiba added.

“Please don’t consider yourself as a sick person,” he said directly to Sho, “you are normal and only need fresh air before returning to your daily life.”

Sho shifted uncomfortably on his seat, but he managed to nod.

“Please take care of him, Jun-san,” Ohno said.

“Call me Jun,” he smiled at Ohno, “I don’t like formal things,” he added.

“That’s my influence,” Aiba chirped in, “he’s four months pregnant,” he announced happily without being asked. There was a slight pink color on Jun’s cheeks, but he nodded happily as well.

“I’ll make sure that Sho kun will be alright by the time I take maternity leaving,” Jun joked; his eyes went to Sho who smiled with stiff expression. Ohno reached Sho’s hand and squished it softly, assuring him that he would be alright. This hospital or whatever Jun called it, seemed nice and the right place to cure the people with emotion problems.

The clock’s hand pointed to 8 pm by the time they finished their dinner; Ohno didn’t know whether the daycare worked extra hour, he forgot to ask and now it was too late to call the staffs. He dialed the number and heard a woman spoke at the other line, feeling relief; he explained that he couldn’t make it on time to pick Kazu up.

“Ohno san, we can’t keep your son here, this is our procedure.”

“Miyazaki san, please, just for this time, I’ll get there in four hours…”

“Four hours?” the woman raised his tone, “you said that you would be back around sunset.”

“Something had happened, please, could you help me? I’ll pay the extra charge.”

Ohno heard Miyazaki inhaled a deep sigh, “Okay, I’ll bring him to my house because we can’t spend the night in our office; you can take him tomorrow morning.”

“Thank you, I really appreciate your help,” Ohno bowed to Jun’s flower at the backyard where he was calling, “I’ll come to your house tomorrow morning, as early as I can. Is he alright?”

“Your son is alright, I don’t know how to communicate with him, but he cooperated well.”

Ohno released a relief breath, “I’m sorry and thank you once again.”

Miyazaki mentioned her address and ended the call after telling Ohno once again that Kazu was okay and had fallen asleep a moment ago. He pocketed his phone and came back inside; Sho and Jun were talking when he reached them – or Jun was explaining about the hospital; all over again, to Sho.

“Sho, I have to go back,” Ohno told Sho as Jun finished talking. Sho turned to him and an unreadable expression crossed his face as if not letting Ohno to leave.

“I’ll find Masaki, so you can say proper good bye,” Jun winked at them as he disappeared to the front yard where Aiba was.

Ohno approached Sho who immediately leaned his body to him, holding him tight.

“Satoshi,” he whispered.

“You’ll be okay, Jun will take care of you for me,” Ohno stroked Sho’s back softly, letting the taller resting his chin on his shoulder.

“Be safe,” Sho pulled away and kissed his cheek.

“I’ll visit as soon as I can,” Ohno placed his palm on Sho’s cheek and smiled at him. “Enjoy your stay here.”

Sho nodded and held him again; they stayed like that for couple minutes before finally walked out of the house.

“Be careful on your way home, Ohno kun,” Jun waved at him, “you too, Masaki, drive properly.”

“I will,” Aiba landed a quick kiss on Jun’s cheek before joining Ohno to walk the path towards the lobby and the exit.

Ohno wanted to praise Jun’s look but he cancelled it, afraid that Aiba would have a wrong impression so he thanked the tailor once again as they got in the car.

“Actually I told Jun to quit,” Aiba opened the conversation, he turned on the engine and fastened his seatbelt, Ohno did the same, “he’s pregnant and I don’t want something happen to him, but he is the most stubborn person on earth, so I can’t force him to leave his job.”

“You said that you have a son, where is he?” Ohno asked, now Sho wasn’t here so he dared to bring up the topic once again.

Aiba inhaled a deep breath, focusing his eyes on the way; the thick darkness welcomed them and there was no other car passed by, “he was killed,” he answered. Ohno didn’t dare to see his expression; Aiba was a cheerful person but now his voice signed that he had hidden his sadness for all these times.

“I’m so sorry,” Ohno murmured.

“A robber entered our house,” Aiba continued. “Jun and my son was injured badly, Jun tried to protect him, but he couldn’t make it until the hospital. I’m still lucky that Jun is alive, but he never gets his old self back after that accident,” he inhaled a few times before continuing his story. “Jun refused to talk for almost a half year and he cried a lot, which was when I found the hospital. Jun agreed to stay there for the time being and he got better as the time went by. He’s a doctor, so he can stay there to work as well, but I can’t leave my job, so there’s no choice for us than living separately. I don’t want to be apart with him, honestly,” Aiba pushed the wiper button when the drizzle wetted the front glass.

“He had overcome his biggest fear and it’s been three years since he entered that place. As you can see, he’s pregnant now, I’m glad that he’s okay with that, but still… I want him to be close. I’m sorry, I talk too much.”

“Don’t apologize; I was the one who brought up the topic. I’m sorry that you have to tell me those bad memories,” Ohno’s head played the scene; a robber entered a small house in a countryside, killed a kid after taking the money and jewelries and fled away.
“The same thing must have happened to Sho kun after Yuzuru’s dead.”

“Sho has unstable emotion since he was sixteen,” Ohno squished his fingers uncomfortably; “he was fine before Yuzuru’s accident, even though he never shows his love for Kazu. He had almost killed that kid.” Ohno touched his left arm; the wound was still hurt as if reminding him of that night.”

“Kazu kun is a sweet kid,” Aiba said. “If my son was still alive, he would be at the same age with Kazu kun.”

“I believe that Sho will be alright,” Ohno mumbled. “Just like Jun.”

“They are stronger than what we thought,” Aiba said.

“You’re right,” Ohno agreed. They drowned to their own thoughts until they reached the station. Ohno thanked the tailor while bowing deeply.

“It’s a pleasure to help you, Ohno kun,” the tall man pulled him into a short hug. “We’ll be meeting soon, I’m sure that Jun wants to eat your cookies again.”

“Thank you,” Ohno said again, “I’ll be waiting at Wonderland Bakery.”

Aiba nodded.

Ohno’s mind went to Sho when he was already in the train which brought him back to Tokyo. Did Sho fall asleep already? Was he okay with Jun? Could he follow the activity well tomorrow morning? And a thousand other questions in his head – it was the first time for them to be apart since they got married and it made Ohno feel lonely more than anything.

***
Sho rolled aside on his bed, trying to find more comfortable position, but no mattered how he changed it, his eyes won’t closed. The bunk bed was large and comfort but it didn’t support him to have a good sleep. He heard Jun’s steady breaths on the lower bed, the man didn’t have any problems; he fell asleep almost at the same time when he attached his head on his pillow.

Sho got down from his bed, as slow as he could. He walked towards the kitchen and gulped a glass of water. He sat down on the dining chair, chin on his palms. The house looked larger inside the darkness; he lay down his head on the table’s surface, recalling Yuzuru, but he couldn’t picture her face; the one who appeared was Kazu.

***
“Good morning, Sho san.”

Sho lifted his face from the table in surprised; Jun’s palm was on his shoulder, it felt warm.

“Jun, I’m sorry, I was…”

“It’s okay,” Jun shook his head, “the first night here is always hard, but you’ll get used to it. Here, drink it,” Jun had already prepared the breakfast: two cups of coffee and toasted bread.

“Thanks,” Sho took the cup and sipped his coffee, Jun’s eyes were still on him – it made him nervous out of nothing.  He didn’t pay attention at the doctor’s face properly last night and now he could see Jun clearly under the morning sunlight which peered through the curtain.

Sho had never seen this kind of face for all his life; Jun’s eyes were big like a Barbie dolls’ and they were framed by long eyelashes. His skin was pale, but it looked perfect on him – his lips were full and red with a mole underneath it. He diverted his gaze to another direction; afraid that his eyes would have been burned by seeing Jun’s perfect figure.

“We’ll only water the flowers for today,” Jun said, setting his cup on the table and starting enjoying his toasted bread. “You must be tired from the trip yesterday.”

Sho nodded, and he began to eat his own bread.

“Masaki said that you play piano,” Jun said. Once again, Sho nodded.

“I love music so much, and I will be glad to learn piano from you,” Jun smiled; somehow the smile could defeat the sunshine, “my baby need to listen to good music, don’t you think so?”

“Yes,” Sho answered shortly; he finished his breakfast in instant and washed the dishes, even though Jun told him that he didn’t need to.

“You can wash up, we’ll go the flower garden at ten,” Jun told him while handing him a new towel. Sho did as what Jun told him; he changed into his old T-shirt, the one Ohno bought for him when they went for short trip to Hakone a few years ago.

Jun wore a bright red shirt today; as usual, he let two upper buttons loosened, revealing his super white chest. Sho followed the doctor’s steps towards the garden; it was located around 200 meters from their house. His pregnancy didn’t block him from moving fast; he took two watering cans and handed one of them to Sho.

“Have you done it before? Gardening?” Jun asked as they walked towards the middle of the garden.

“No,” Sho answered firmly, “but I love going to plantation in summer,” he continued. Jun showed his blinding smile again as he heard Sho’s answer.

“Did you spend a lot of time together with your husband?” Jun asked again.

Sho paused for a moment, “Yes, a lot,” he finally spoke after a few seconds.

“Do you love him?”

“Very much,” Sho recalled Ohno’s face while speaking.

Jun still smiled, “I can imagine that he is a nice and sweet husband. You can tell me everything, that’s the system work, if you want to get better – you have to reveal all of the things you keep inside, even the worst memory, if you want to cry, just cry.”

“I can’t do that now, I still need time,” Sho said. He touched the rose petal softly; it had been a while since he felt the touch of the nature, he watered it, still holding it.

“Sure, take all the time,” Jun approached him and lay his hand on his shoulder, “we’re here to help each other.”
***

Kazu was still sleeping when Ohno picked him up that morning. He apologized over and over to Miyazaki and thanked her for her kindness. He hoisted the kid to his embrace and walked home; he had to work today, it meant Kazu would spend all day in the bakery. He wanted to bring him to daycare, but he didn’t think Miyazaki would be glad to see Kazu again – it left him no choice than bringing the kid to the bakery.

He made breakfast for both of them; his left arm was still hurt and stiff. He winced as he lifted the pot to pour the hot water to the glass. Kazu woke up with groan; he looked around and realized that he was in his own house.

Ohno carried two glasses of milk to the dining table and approached his son. He embraced the kid tightly, comforting him.

“Kazu, we’re home,” he said.

Kazu’s little hand circled on his neck; the kid buried his head on Ohno’s chest. If he could speak; perhaps he wanted to say ‘don’t go’. Ohno stroked Kazu’s head and lifted him to their dining table, sitting him on his lap.

“Daddy is fine, he stays in a nice place,” he said to the kid. “Papa and Kazu can visit him anytime soon.”

Kazu’s blank stare found its way to his eyes and before he realized it, he cried. The tears poured to his cheeks, he held the kid again, as if trying to find a shelter for his sadness. The tears which denied to flow when Yuzuru died found its way now. He bit his lower lip to pretend his sobbing, but he couldn’t do that, his shoulder shook roughly as he continued to cry.

***
“Sho san, are you okay?” Jun approached him with worrisome.

It was the third day since he came here; Sho remembered that he had eaten properly for these past three days because Jun would have made sure of it, but today he woke up with dizzy head and nausea attack.

Jun handed him a bundle of tissues while rubbing his back, “Let it out,” he said.

Sho wiped his mouth, leaning his head to the cold wall. He looked into Jun’s big eyes and moved to his bulged belly, his stomach twinge in unpleasant way – it can’t be.

“Jun, I think I’m pregnant,” he told the doctor with horror.
